Aluminum
Used in frames and layered as filtering media mainly in air filters. Frames are made from formed .025 or .040 aluminum channel, securely connected with heavy rivets. Corrugated aluminum is layered and expanded through specified feeds to assure maximum filtering and internal loading capabilities. Available as flat stock, 1/8" corrugation for 1" filters or 1/4" corrugation for 2" filters.
Anti-microbial
A safe anti-microbial agent that retards the growth or destroys mold, mildew, algae and bacterial organisms that come in contact with the air filter. The anti-microbial agent is incorporated within the binder to become a permanent component that will not migrate or off-gas in the airstream. FDA and USDA approved.
Charcoal
Activated commercial carbon is bonded to two perforated sheets enclosed in a metal frame. Extremely effective in odor removal in electronic air cleaners, furnaces, or in any area where a minimum pressure drop is required. Periodic replacement is required.
Charcoal Impregnated
A carbon (coconut shell based) impregnated synthetic air filter media.
Electrostatic
Air and static electricity is used to capture airborne particles. The air flow from the ventilation system moves steadily over the surface of the filter to enhance its charge field. As airborne particles approach the charged field, the particles are held by the static electricity until the filter is cleaned by water rinsing or vacuuming. Electrostatic air filters typically outlast the furnace.
Fiberglass
Although widely used in hammock-style furnaces and as utility rolls, the metal or glass particles in the media can harm hands or foul the intricate parts of air moving equipment. Fiberglass filters are typically upgraded to polyester filters due to the small difference in cost.
Foam
Foam has low resistance to air with a high particle collecting capacity. Foam can hold twice its weight in contaminants and is safe to handle. Foam is a non-allergenic, nontoxic material that's resistant to most solvents and is not adversely affected by water, soap or detergents.
Temperature rating -40 degrees to +250 degrees F.
Galvanized Steel
Used in frames and layered as filtering media. Frames are made from galvanized steel commercially known as 24 gauge Hot Dip G-90 galvanized steel. The filtering media is made from Hot Dip G-90, 28 gauge thickness expanded through .032 feed galvanized steel. Lightweight, Medium weight and heavy weight galvanized steel grids. Withstands temperature up to 450 degrees F.
Hog Hair
Scientific combination of 100% virgin fibers spun into high loft, interlocking maze, bonded for added rigidity and sprayed with a rugged latex binder for long lasting durability. Fully treated with an active bacteriostat which protects against growth of bacteria, fungus, mold, slime and odor. Hog hair filters are exceptional for evaporative (swamp) coolers, humidifiers, and paint arrestors. Washable fibers soften when wet and return to rigid shape when dry. Easily cuts to size for odd size panel filters. No frame needed.
Matrix
Hypo-allergic, 100 denier polyester fibers will not absorb water and is chemical and abrasion resistant. Odorless, unlike animal hair fibers (rubberized hog hair). A rigid acetate resin holds the fibers together. Resists sagging in air stream. Low resistance reduces energy consumption.
Easily cuts to size for odd size panel filters. No frame needed.
Pleated Filters
Offers significantly higher efficiencies, longer life and better dust-holding capacities than conventional flat panel air filters. Extended surface air filters are available in many efficiencies, capacities, and thicknesses.
Polyester Media
Polyester fibers are bonded together to form an interlocking pattern of tiny lint and dust traps. Media is designed to minimize surface loading. Polyester media eliminates the possibility of fibers breaking off and getting into the airstream.
Scrimbacked
Plastic netting used on the back of pads.
Stainless Steel
Used in frames and as a premium air filtering media. Frames are made from heavy weight 24 gauge stainless steel. Heavy weight stainless steel grid is available as flat stock, 1/8" corrugation for 1" filters or 1/4" corrugation for 2" air filters.
Zeolite
Zeolite is a natural earth mineral thermally bonded to polyester with the ability to remove votile organic compounds. Zeolite is combined with activated commercial carbon (charcoal) to trap and hold odors and gasses. Widely used to remove ammonia and ammonium compound odors such as pet odors and urine.
